About
We monitor trends and emerging new practices on donor selection criteria, complications of blood donation, Haemoglobin deferrals, iron levels, donor incentives and provide an information platform. We promote and strive for 100% voluntary non-remunerated blood donation according to the ISBT Code of Ethics. We are involved in donor recruitment, retention and selection. We facilitate networking, benchmarking and the exchange of ideas between countries, blood services and other relevant societies or associations world-wide. We also facilitate training in resource-limited countries.
Task teams have been formed within this WP including:
- Donor incentives and voluntary non-remunerated donations
- Donor selection
- Iron depletion and donor vigilance
Activities and projects
We meet at the ISBT congresses and collaborate with the other ISBT Working parties, for instance the Transfusion Transmissible Infectious Diseases (TTID), and the Haemo- (donor) vigilance Working Party.
